By Eldred Evans
These predominantly miniature works were created over a period of 12 years, from 2004 to 2016. They are experimental in nature and explore the medium of traditional watercolour as well as acrylic. The works are based on a wide range of topical subjects and personal interests, including: still life; sporting events; interiors; architecture; town-, sea- and skyscapes, mostly in St Ives. A solo exhibition of some of these works took place at King's College, Cambridge in 2007, with some watercolours now in private collections across the UK. Eldred Evans (b. 1937) studied at the Architectural Association School of Architecture, London and at Yale University, New Haven under Paul Rudolph & Serge Chermayeff. Evans was also an influential teacher at the Regent Street Polytechnic, London.
