This publication presents the photographic work of Irmel Kamp in the form of a comprehensive overview of her series of pictures taken since 1978. Focusing on architectural subjects, this work has been one of the artistic discoveries of a typologically oriented black-and-white photography that is characterised by individual perspectives and cultural historical as well as sociological-atmospheric references. Presented are works from the work groups Zink (1978-1982), Tel Aviv (1988-90), Bruxelles-Brussel (1996/97) and Moderne in Europa (2000-2012), as well as some photographs taken in Haifa (1996). Published on occasion of the exhibition ‘Irmel Kamp: Images of Architecture’, 25 Jun — 18 Sep 2022, Museum für Photographie, Braunschweig, and also 29 Jan – 23 Apr 2023, Leopold-Hoesch-Museum, Düren. Includes a conversation between Irmel Kamp with Barbara Hofmann-Johnson, Director of the Museum für Photographie Braunschweig, and Markus Mascher, Curator and Deputy Director of the Leopold-Hoesch-Museum, Düren.
