Huang Sheng-Yuan, founder of Fieldoffice Architects in Taiwan, describes his approach using the concept “Vascular Bundles”. Two decades of work are presented in this volume. Taking the city of Yilan as case study, he proposes an urban sustainable management strategy that transfers the energy of the city’s natural environment into both its old centre and newer residential areas. Likewise, the plan applies the city’s economic power to care for the natural environment. His long-term plan promotes a liveable urban setting that draws out its potential across a variety of genres and encourages lively growth. The study offers an in-depth examination of history, landscape, and future.
