The Public School For Architecture Brussels

By L. Fischer and R. Himmelfarb

This book was conceived following the first eight weeks of the Public School for Architecture Brussels, which took place in 2014 as part of the Gare de Bruxelles-Congrès. It documents the activities during the residency and reflects more broadly on the event by asking what an alternative education in architecture can be and why it is necessary. Presented here are texts from committee members and documents from all of the classes that were held, in addition to material from participants. Several contributions from individuals outside of the school provide wider perspectives on pedagogy and help to contextualise the programme in the dialogue about architecture in the city.
